The daily commute

So, here is my daily commute. First (TLH-RDG) I zip down the hill on the Brompton along The Meadway and Tilehurst Road. From Reading station I take the next train to Paddington (RDG-PAD). On this map this was a non-stop Thames Turbo. The Intercity 125s tend to be a bit faster. From Paddington I cycle through the park to the department (PAD-DoC). The trip back (DoC-PAD) is slightly different due to the lovely one-way system around Paddington. There is also an alternative and slightly shorter route past the Royal Lancaster Hotel which I take when I feel brave. My normal train home is the 1922 to Hereford (PAD-RDG). This is a high speed train that stops in Slough. The next train (1930) hurtles through Slough at full speed. Then for the last leg it is a trip up the hill to Tilehurst (RDG-TLH). This map shows the slightly more scenic, but also hillier, option on the way back. Unfortunately I have not yet managed to achieve the same top speed up The Meadway as I have downhill.
On some days I take the train from Tilehurst station which is about 1/2 hour walk away and has a train to Reading every half an hour.
The route was recorded with my BGT-31 and after some editing I used gpsbabel to convert its NMEA format to GPX and finally to KML using this commandline: gpsbabel -i gpx -f leg-1.gpx -x simplify,count=150 -o kml,lines=1,points=1,line_width=4,trackdirection=1,labels=1 -F leg-1.kml
